How to Go to Car Dealerships for Women

The dealerships where men work aren't just for men. It's not just men who hate it. Here are some tips for women who have been through the car dealership experience. Do not touch another person's car! Respect others' vehicles and be polite. Third, don't try and influence others. These tips will save time and money.

Women hate visiting car dealerships

Lexus is determined to change the perception of women who don't enjoy going to car dealers. They believe that women make up 80 percent of car buying decisions. Having too many women in the sales floor can negatively impact sales. Lexus has created a new strategy for training and selling to increase the number of women-friendly dealerships. Founder Barbara Goodman is a former executive with the Boston Marriott. She is a graduate of the Masters in Counseling & Psychology. She was the Director of Catering & Events for the Brain Tumor Society at Marriott.

Research also showed that women are intimidated by car dealerships. More than half of women feel more vulnerable to being ripped off or patronized because they are female. A third of women dislike going to car dealerships because of the same reason. Women don't like the way they feel during the experience: The salesperson may nag them about their eyes, or point out that the color matches their skin tone or that they would enjoy the gas mileage of the car.

Do NOT touch someone's vehicle

If you're not a responsible adult and will not be reminded, don't touch another person's car when you ride-sharing or carpooling. Always use your seat belt. You should not put your feet or shoes on the dashboard, or on the seat. It is rude and discourteous to leave rubbish in someone else's car.

Pay attention to your surroundings

It can save your life to be aware of your surroundings. By staying alert, you can avoid accidents, even those involving a small car, and protect your health. A good tip for anxiety sufferers is to stay present when you commute. It can decrease your chances of experiencing panic attacks. If you think about leaving your car at home, you should keep your eyes on the road and not leave it unattended.

You can also scan the surrounding area to ensure you are alert when driving. Drivers should always check the blind spots of the vehicle in front of them and over their shoulders for bicyclists. Drivers need to be alert for possible dangers, such as a car opening its doors or a ball rolling onto the road. Keep your eyes open and avoid looking in the rearview mirror.

Be polite

Be friendly to others while you're at the store. Trader Joe's parking lot, for example, is very crowded. This makes it difficult to maneuver around the lines without getting into other cars. You shouldn't park in a handicapped zone. While you're at it, buy gas for the driver or get snacks for him. If they are open to it, discuss what you will do when your vehicle is returned to you. Talk about who's going to drive the GPS, and who's going to control it.

A second tip to be polite is not to wave at people. This is a good way to get a good grip on the "polite" ways to drive in the city. You shouldn't drive on the streets in rude ways. You must always give way when you drive. This could cause drivers to take longer for you crossing the road. Also, avoid waving at people in the right-of way. It's just as dangerous as running a stop sign or red light.
